NDIS
We are a NDIS-registered provider. Diagnostic assessments are not covered by NDIS funding unless specified in a participant’s plan. NDIS funding can be used for:
- Functional capacity assessments
- Assessments for plan review
- Assessments for a change in circumstances or request for additional funding
Medicare
While most assessment services are privately funded, limited Medicare rebates may be available.
For individuals under 25 currently under the care of a paediatrician or psychiatrist. To be eligible for a rebate under the “Complex neurodevelopmental disorder or eligible disability” scheme, you must obtain a referral letter from your specialist (paediatrician or psychiatrist) specifically requesting an assessment for a complex neurodevelopmental disorder (or a similar condition like Autism). A referral under this scheme will allow a patient to claim up to 4 services under Medicare item 82000. General practitioner (GP) referrals and Mental Health Treatment Plans do not typically qualify for this rebate unless you have a listed eligible disability. Rebates are processed from the referral letter date, and we can usually process them directly if provided with your complete Medicare details and those of the parent claimant. Medicare may also cover certain components of an assessment if they are deemed medically necessary and conducted by a qualified healthcare professional (e.g., under the Chronic Disease Management plan). However, the extent of coverage can vary, and it’s best to consult with Medicare or your primary healthcare provider for specific details.
Private health funds
Private health insurance coverage depends on your policy and level of cover. Some policies may include coverage for psychological assessments or related services under extras or ancillary cover. We recommend contacting your private health insurance provider to check if this specific assessment is included in your plan and what rebates, if any, you are entitled to claim.
Commonly used private health fund codes include:
- 10010 for an initial 60-minute consultation (intake),
- 20010 for a 60-minute psychological assessment (typically 4-5 sessions), and
- 20010 for a subsequent 60-minute consultation (feedback).

Please note that we cannot process private health rebates on your behalf; you will need to submit these directly to your health fund.
