As we are an assessment only practice (we do not offer therapy), our wait times are significantly shorter than other providers. Currently, we aim to see you within 4 weeks.

Please call us to book a suitable day and time.

What happens during an assessment?
  1. Our office will be in contact with you to discuss the assessment and start the process with ‘information gathering’. This may include emailing you forms to fill out before the assessment.
  2. The next step is a clinical interview with you and/or your child.
  3. Dependent on circumstances, this may be completed before or on the day of the assessment.
  4. On the day of the assessment, you and/or your child will meet with your clinician to complete the assessments (tests).
  5. Then, your clinician will interpret the tests, look at all the information gathered and summarise this into a comprehensive report of you or your child’s functioning. Please note this step does not happen on the day of assessment.
What is a clinical interview?

The clinical interview may take 1 – 2 hours. This can be done in person, over the phone, or over a secure online platform.

The purpose of this interview is to collect as much information as possible about you or your child.

Information (where relevant) may include:

  • Personal information, including events that may have occurred during pregnancy and in the early years of you or your child’s life.
  • Medical history, including genetic disorders or health conditions.
  • Accidents or illness.
  • Current medical, physical or psychological treatments and medications.
  • Significant life events such as deaths, violence or abuse, difficulties with family members or at school, and any other event, situation or ailment which may have impacted you or your child either directly or indirectly.
What documents should I share with my clinician?

Please bring as much relevant information as possible.

This may include but is not limited to:

  • Medical reports
  • Referrals
  • NAPLAN results
  • Paediatric reports
  • Psychologist or psychiatrist reports
  • School report cards

Some of these may not apply to you or your child, please bring any that you do have and ask your doctor(s) and specialist(s) for any information on record.

Please ensure the names and contact information of these professionals are available.

You may be asked to provide consent for the psychologist to contact the professionals you or your child has seen.

How do I book an appointment?

You can book an appointment by emailing: reception@psychologicalassessments.com.au OR by completing the online CONTACT US form.

A member of our team will be in contact with you within 48 hours. If you require an offline version of our Contact Us form, please download here, and return to us via the above email.

Do you see NDIS clients?
Absolutely. We offer services to NDIS registered, plan-managed and self-managed NDIS participants.
How long will it take to get my report?
Once all information is received and test results are submitted, we require 4 weeks to complete your report.

All reports are peer reviewed by our Director, as recommended by the Australian Psychological Society.

Whilst this may mean you wait a little longer, it ensures that every report leaving our office is of the same high standard.

When will I need to pay?

Payment can be made by direct debit, or by credit card via telephone (1.8% surcharge applies to credit card payments). We kindly request that payment is received before the feedback session and release of the report.

Payment for NDIS participants will depend on your plan management, with details outlined in the service agreement.

What is your Cancellation Policy?

We understand that unforeseen circumstances may arise, leading to the need to reschedule or cancel appointments. However, the Psychological Assessment process involves significant preparation, resources, and professional commitment from our team. Each assessment is tailored to address a client’s unique needs and requires careful planning, including the allocation of specific clinicians and testing materials. In the event of a cancellation, these resources go unused, resulting in both financial and time-related implications for our practice. The 50% cancellation fee is intended to cover a portion of the costs incurred and to ensure the sustainability of our practice, allowing us to maintain the quality and accessibility of our services. This fee helps address the financial impact of cancellations on small businesses like ours.

All efforts will be made to confirm appointments with the client/treating team/referrer 48 hours prior to the scheduled visit. Cancellations made at least 2 business days prior to the scheduled appointment will not incur any charges. However, to ensure the efficient operation of our services and to respect the time of both parties, we have implemented the following cancellation policy for appointments:

FOR NDIS PARTICIPANTS AND PRIVATE PAYING CLIENTS:

  • Cancellations made within 2 business days (48 hours) of the scheduled appointment will result in a 50% cancellation fee.
  • No-shows or cancellations on the day of the appointment will be subject to a 50% cancellation fee. If the clinician has arrived at the appointment, the company will charge 50% of the appointment fee plus total travel costs. If the assessment is rescheduled and completed at a later date, the full fee will be charged in addition to any cancellation fees for the initial appointment. This may be negotiated at the company’s discretion.

FOR GOVERNMENT REFERRALS AND MEDICO-LEGAL CLIENTS:

  • Cancellations made within 2 business days (48 hours) of the scheduled appointment will result in a 50% cancellation fee + GST.
  • No-shows or cancellations on the day of the appointment will be subject to a 50% cancellation fee + GST. If the clinician has arrived at the appointment, the company will charge 50% of the appointment fee + GST plus the cost associated with visiting the centre ($265.50 + GST) or any total travel costs. If the assessment is rescheduled and completed at a later date, the full fee will be charged in addition to any cancellation fees for the initial appointment. This may be negotiated at the company’s discretion.
